Link Search Optimization – Vancouver Washington Screen Printing

Seo Basics Series – Part 1 – Internal Linking

1083202_business_manThe SEO Basics are going to be covered more on our new partner blog TheSEOBasics.com, but this seems important enough to cover now while that is under construction.  First of all, there are a few things you are likely missing.  Even guys who have been doing SEO for some time may have missed this truck, as Google just started really weighing this more heavily in the last year.  What is it? Internal site links.  That is, linking from every page to every other page.

Well we already do that, don’t we?  Maybe – but are you using your search optimized keyphrases? Or are you doing like most and linking with one word, like services.  For our client and partner Designs of All Kinds, the strategy is usually a four word keyphrase including the city state since they do a vast majority of their business local.  One of the phrases they use is, for instance, Vancouver Washington Screen Printing.  So the problem is making it look good and keeping it functional while allowing providing the right link search optimization.

Link Search Optimization – Making it Look Good

Links have varying weights of optimization depending on where they are placed, but a couple of strategies in tandem may be the best way to go.  Our first trick for making them look good is having the link be the same color as the rest of the text, then it completely blends in.  Now this renders the visual clue of a link almost moot, but that’s ok.  Let’s say we are on the Vancouver-Washington-Screen-Printing page and we want to link those same keywords to the home page, you can do it in the initial heading and use a CSS class that makes the links the same color as the other headings.  The link would then be weighted heavily because it is a H1 tag and it is high on the page.  Theoretically you could do the same link in the content text as well for additional relevancy.
