Web 2.0 Marketing is utilizing modern, online, business marketing techniques like search results optimization, internet lead generation, and of course tracking web conversions from paid search placement. Automated and computerized tools, mainly for results tracking, are an obvious advantage of the era we live in, but don’t come in to play in most online small business marketing.

The best bets for small business online marketing come in the form of inexpensive business marketing blogs matched with high quality websites. Northwest eSource likes to theme their business blogs right along with their primary websites, two examples are:

Checkmate Carpet Cleaning Portland and its Carpet Cleaning blog.
Netraffic does Paid Search Placement and their Search Placement Blog.

Small Business Web Marketing Blog

Why are we stressing the business web marketing blog in this article? Well, the Portland Web Design company Northwest eSource breaks down the SEO Basics on their web marketing blog, and we would like to highlight the simplicity of obtaining search engine presence. SEO breaks down into two categories – internal optimizations and inbound external links. To top this off, if you pick a good blog theme (like this UBD Money Maker) it comes with certain optimizations built in. Then with the right knowledge of SEO, it can be used to generate solid links and topics – based on a proper analysis of keyword trends.

Targeting an SEO Top 10?

You should be. With the right web designer, you should be able to find the right keyword data that will allow you to approach your target audience from their own mindset. Not only that, the right keyword targeting can yield great organic search results, and allow you to jump right in front of the pack for your competitive keyword phrases.

Search Engine Presence

This is the new buzzword we are engineering to describe your place above your competitors. The real key to a real search engine presence is a robust web design model and web marketing tactics. That is why we’re here! To help you find your niche, track your progress, and give you just a little boost along the way.

Seo Basics Series – Part 1 – Internal Linking

The SEO Basics are going to be covered more on our new partner blog TheSEOBasics.com, but this seems important enough to cover now while that is under construction. First of all, there are a few things you are likely missing. Even guys who have been doing SEO for some time may have missed this truck, as Google just started really weighing this more heavily in the last year. What is it? Internal site links. That is, linking from every page to every other page.

Well we already do that, don’t we? Maybe – but are you using your search optimized keyphrases? Or are you doing like most and linking with one word, like services. For our client and partner Designs of All Kinds, the strategy is usually a four word keyphrase including the city state since they do a vast majority of their business local. One of the phrases they use is, for instance, Vancouver Washington Screen Printing. So the problem is making it look good and keeping it functional while allowing providing the right link search optimization.

Link Search Optimization – Making it Look Good

Links have varying weights of optimization depending on where they are placed, but a couple of strategies in tandem may be the best way to go. Our first trick for making them look good is having the link be the same color as the rest of the text, then it completely blends in. Now this renders the visual clue of a link almost moot, but that’s ok. Let’s say we are on the Vancouver-Washington-Screen-Printing page and we want to link those same keywords to the home page, you can do it in the initial heading and use a CSS class that makes the links the same color as the other headings. The link would then be weighted heavily because it is a H1 tag and it is high on the page. Theoretically you could do the same link in the content text as well for additional relevancy.

SEO Experts comment, we love to hear your opinions…
